Iran meets with IAEA representatives again

Representatives from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Iran will meet in Tehran on Wednesday of this week to discuss inspections and verification arrangements. The meeting follows several previous unsuccessful attempts between the two sides to agree on a path forward on how to address the possible military dimensions of Iran’s nuclear program.

Talks in Baghdad concluded without making substantive progress, but parties agreed to meet again in Moscow on June 18.  The IAEA's meeting with officials in Tehran to address "possible military dimensions" of the nuclear program showed more promise.

Hopes slowly rising as Iran talks continue

The IAEA has today been negotiating with Iran on the modalities around tighter nuclear inspections within Iran. On Wednesday senior officials from the E3+3 (P5+1) and Iran meet in Baghdad for the follow-on talks after those last month in Istanbul appeared to end with a little more optimism than the previous round. IAEA Secretary-General Amano has been uncharacteristically optimistic about progress.
