Heinz Gärtner is a senior researcher at the Austrian Institute for International Affairs and lecturer at the University of Vienna. He also lectures at Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Columbia, Oxford and other American, European, and Asian universities and research institutes. He is a senior partner with Global Concepts & Communications and special adviser to the Austrian Ministry of Defense. Dr Gärtner specialises in European, international security and arms control. He has authored Obama: Weltmacht – auf neuen Wegen, (2008) and Internationale Sicherheit – Definitionen von A–Z (2008), and edited, with Ian Cuthbertson, European Security and Transatlantic Relations after September 11 and the Iraq War (2005).
