Daniel N Nelson is president of Global Concepts & Communications, LLC, and senior fellow at the Center for Arms Control and Nonproliferation. He has held senior academic positions at Kentucky, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, George Washington and Old Dominion universities, and at the University of New Haven. He served in the US Depts of State and Defense. He directed the curriculum in Civil–Military Relations at the George C Marshall Center for European Security Studies. He was senior foreign policy advisor to Richard Gephardt (D-Mo) when he was the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives; and a senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment, and professor of political science at the University of Kentucky. He was editor-in-chief of International Politics. He has written six books and edited or co-edited 20 others.
