Arms Control
Association
ACA is a US non-partisan membership organization dedicated to
promoting public understanding of and support for effective arms
control policies. This site contains all the relevant news articles
concerning BW control as well as feature articles and key official
texts.
BWC and its Protocol
Website
This site is administered by the Department of Peace Studies
of the University of Bradford at the request of the President of
the Fifth Review Conference. It provides accurate and up to date
information about the BWC.

Non-proliferation Project
The Carnegie Endowment works to advance cooperation between
nations and promote active international engagement by the US.
Their Non-proliferation Project provides a wide range of news and
resources on BW.
Centre for
Conflict Resolution
This site contains the fullest account of the Trial of Wouter
Basoon, former head of the South African chemical and biological
weapons (CBW) program. The 30-month trial contained numerous
revelations concerning the apartheid regime's covert BW
program.

for Nonproliferation Studies
CNS is the largest nongovernmental organization in the United
States devoted exclusively to research and training on
nonproliferation issues. This site features extensive coverage and
analysis of the BW proliferation threat, with a particular focus on
bioterrorism.

Peace Studies, University of Bradford
The Department of Peace Studies has been heavily involved in
analysis and advocacy aimed at strengthening the BWC. This site
contains extensive briefing papers, evaluation papers and official
documentation detailing, amongst other things, the Review
Conferences and the work of the Ad Hoc Group.
Federation of American
Scientists
FAS is endorsed by the nearly 60 Nobel Laureates in biology,
chemistry, economics, medicine, and physics and is uniquely
qualified to bring the scientific perspective to public policy.
This site features Barbara Hatch Rosenberg's controversial
commentary on the recent anthrax attacks in the US and their
subsequent investigation. It also examines US biodefense projects
and the BWC Protocol negotiations.
Genewatch
UK
GeneWatch works to promote environmental, ethical, social,
human health and animal welfare considerations in decision-making
about genetic engineering and other genetic technologies. As part
of this work is has closely examined questions of biological
weapons and their prohibition.
Harvard-Sussex
Program
A collaboration between faculties at Harvard University in the
United States and at the University of Sussex in the United
Kingdom, the program supports informed policy on
chemical/biological warfare. This site contains a wide range of
resources, including back issues of the CBW Conventions
Bulletin.

The Center forms a community of analysts devoted to offering
practical solutions to problems of national and international
security. Their Chemical and Biological Weapons Nonproliferation

International Security Information Service (ISIS)
ISIS is intended as a service to provide Parliamentarians of
all parties with independent analysis and research reports on
foreign, defense and other issues related to international
security. This site includes a series of briefings concerning the
BWC and various ways of strengthening it.
Center for Biosecurity
of UPMC
This site provides detailed information and analysis of biological
weapons and the challenges they pose to Homeland Security. Included
is the famous Dark Winter Bioterrorism Exercise, which simulated
the potential consequences of a smallpox outbreak in the United
States.
SIPRI
SIPRI conducts research on questions of importance for
international peace and security. The CBW section of its website
allows registration to the SIPRI CBW Discussion forum - a community
of experts discussing the latest developments in the field.
Sunshine
Project
The Sunshine Project researches and publishes to strengthen
the global consensus against biological warfare and to ensure that
international treaties effectively prevent development and use of
biological weapons. It has a particular focus on anti-material
bioweapons and the US biodefense program.
VERTIC
VERTIC promotes effective and efficient verification as a
means of ensuring confidence in the implementation of international
agreements. It's program relating to biological weapons is to Promoting

Department
This site contains remarks, fact sheets and press releases
from the Bush administration concerning BW and the BWC. It includes
full transcripts of the crucial speeches made in 2001 by US
Ambassador Donald Mahley and US Under Secretary for Arms Control
and International Security John Bolton.
Centers for Disease
Control
CDC serves as the national focus for developing and applying
disease prevention and control, environmental health, and health
promotion and education activities designed to improve the health
of the people of the United States. This site contains specific
sections on anthrax, smallpox and public health emergency
preparedness and response.
Foreign and Commonwealth
Office
This site details the approach of the UK government to
Arms Control and Nonproliferation, including tackling
the BW threat and strengthening the BWC.
European
Commission - Public Health
This site includes a section on the EU's response to the
threat of
Bioterrorism. Of particular interest is the EU
Program of Cooperation on Preparedness and Response to
Biological and Chemical Agent Attacks which established
Europe-wide objectives, to be carried out over a timeframe of 18
months beginning in May 2002.
