Resolution Proposed in the Lower Chamber
of the Dutch Parliament
26 200 V
nr.69
Proposed 21 April 1999
Editor's Note: The Dutch minister of foreign affairs
did not advise parliament to oppose this resolution, which
has not yet been voted on.
The Chamber,
Having heard the debate,
Considering that the discussion on the international legitimization
of NATO out of area operations outside the treaty area should
receive extra attention because of the Kosovo conflict,
Considering that the United Nations is the leading international
organization in the field of peace and security;
Requests the government, in the debates on the formulation
of the Strategic Concept, to argue the case for formulations
based on the international rule of law and the UN charter
and therefore the maximum involvement of the Security Council
in such actions;
And carries on with its business.
