The New Strategic Concept

NATO is preparing six documents for the April Summit. The Strategic Concept, the mission statement for the Alliance, is the most critical. Last updated in 1991, the new Strategic Concept will set NATO's goals and priorities into the next century.

This page provides news and analysis on the Strategic Concept as NATO debates the future of the Alliance, as well as a link to the section on the Concept in BASIC's A Risk Reduction Strategy for NATO.
